Preservation Distillery is Bardstown's hidden gem and smallest distillery. The farmstead along the bourbon trail is nestled in the official “Bourbon Capital of the World.” The first and only 100% pot-distilled producer in Nelson County, often referred to as Kentucky’s “Napa Valley” for Bourbon.

In 1776, pioneering distiller Wattie Boone, alongside his friend Stephen Ritchie, became one of the first documented bourbon makers in what is now Bardstown, Kentucky. On the Ritchie Farm, nestled along the Beech Fork River, Boone helped lay the foundation for Kentucky’s rich whiskey heritage.
